What a signed delivery note establishes
A record at hand-over
The delivery note links transported goods to receipt. It identifies the shipment, quantities delivered and parties present.
Check before signing
Shipper, carrier and consignee check the items under their responsibility. At unloading, the consignee checks quantity and visible condition with the carrier.
Record reservations immediately
Any quantity discrepancy or visible damage must be described precisely on the note at hand-over. Vague wording is not a substitute for a clear observation.
Retain the documents
Keep a readable copy of the note and related shipment documents. The signed note records hand-over; it does not create a guaranteed transit time or replace other applicable documents.
